BC Women’s Hospital

Patient flows from the Urgent Care Centre through to Labour and Delivery are being worked on by hospital administration.  Please check the BC Women’s Hospital website for the most up-to-date information.

There are now limits on the number of support people for women in labour.  Currently, only ONE ADULT support person is permitted in the Urgent Care Centre and Labour and Delivery areas.

Antepartum (before delivery) and postpartum (after delivery) rounds are now being done by the On-Call OB, per our usual weekend/holiday procedure.  Patients should be aware that their own OB is not permitted to come and visit them if they are not already at the hospital.

As of Monday, March 23, all elective C-sections will be done by a single OB, who will be assuming the new role of “3rd OB On-Call”.  Patients should not expect their own OB to be present, unless they are already on-duty at the hospital.

All elective surgeries have been postponed until further notice.  Urgent cases needing to be done within time frames of under 4 weeks will proceed, but OR slates are being amalgamated to accommodate these cases, and patients should be aware that their operation may be done by a different surgeon.
