We are pleased to be able to offer convenient access to the specialized services of the following care providers, within our Cross Roads Obstetrics and Gynaecology facility.
Pacific Centre for Reproductive Medicine (PCRM)
For obstetrical patients, they also offer First Trimester Screening (FTS), a non-invasive screen for the detection of Down Syndrome and other chromosomal disorders. The screen involves a specialized ultrasound to measure the nuchal translucency (NT) and some blood tests. It is done between 11 and 14 weeks of pregnancy, and has the advantage of providing results earlier in the pregnancy than the other available screening tests (quad screen, serum integrated prenatal screen (SIPS), and integrated prenatal screen (IPS)).
New in 2013, they are also now offering Non-Invasive Prenatal Testing (NIPT), which involves detection of cell-free fetal DNA in the maternal serum. This test is offered after 10 weeks of pregnancy.
Cross Roads Bladder Health, Female Incontinence and Prolapse
The clinic brings together multidisciplinary expertise to optimize the diagnosis and treatment of pelvic floor disorders. Diagnosis is the key to successful management. Urodynamic, endoscopic and EMG studies are performed by our specially-trained nurse and physicians to achieve this. As many patiens with these conditions have mobility challenges, the testing room has a power-assisted bed and the clinic in general has full wheelchair access.
The clinic has a dedicated physiotherapist with expertise in female incontinence and pelvic floor disorders. It also provides pessary fittings and on-going follow-up care for those patients who opt for conservative managment.
For more complex cases, the clinic is affiliated with the Centre for Pelvic Floor Competence at St Paul’s Hospital. Through this community of practice, patients have access to Dr. Geoffrey Cundiff and Dr. Roxana Geoffrion, who are fellowship-trained Urogynaecologists with a combined experience of 25 years.
Dr. Henry Woo serves as medical director and is based at Vancouver Hospital. Dr. Darren Lazare is an associate.
